Long-term hair reduction with the Alma Soprano Titanium: three wavelengths in one treatment, with cooling built in
We use the Soprano Titanium by Alma, a laser system that fires three wavelengths at the same time, 755 nm, 810 nm and 1064 nm, each aimed at a different depth of the hair follicle. Alma's SHR technique builds heat gradually with rapid pulses while a chilled sapphire tip cools the skin, so treatment is comfortable and can be used on a wide range of skin tones. Most people have a course of around 6 to 8 sessions for a long-term reduction in hair.
Three wavelengths, one treatment
Hair roots sit at different depths, so the Soprano Titanium combines three laser wavelengths in one Trio applicator and fires them together. Alma's SHR technique builds the heat gradually, and ICE Plus cooling protects the skin as the applicator moves.
755 nm Alexandrite
Strongly absorbed by the pigment in the hair and works nearer the surface. Alma says it helps with finer, lighter hair and shallow roots, such as on the upper lip and brows.
810 nm Diode
Well absorbed by pigment and reaches deeper into the follicle, balancing effectiveness and comfort across most areas of the body.
1064 nm Nd:YAG
Absorbed less by pigment in the skin, which makes it better suited to darker skin tones, and reaches deepest, down to the base of the follicle.

What to Expect
Preparation
Your first visit includes a consultation and usually a patch test. Shave the area the day before your session, and during your course shave or trim only: do not wax or pluck, because the laser needs the hair root in place, and avoid hair removal creams too. Avoid sunbeds and fake tan for at least two weeks before each session, and tell us about any medicines, as some make the skin more sensitive to light.
Your Treatment
You wear protective eyewear throughout. The applicator glides over larger areas while the ICE Plus tip cools the skin, and smaller areas such as the face and bikini line are treated with stationary pulses. Alma describes it as virtually pain-free, though comfort varies: most people feel warmth or a light sting with each pulse, and we can adjust the settings. A single small area takes around 10 minutes, several areas up to an hour.
Aftercare
Mild redness and swelling around the follicles usually settles within a day or so, and you can go back to your day straight away. Treated hairs shed over the following week or two: let them fall out rather than plucking. Use SPF 30 to 50 on treated skin for at least a week, and avoid hot baths, hot tubs, steam rooms and perfumed products on the area for a short time.
