Alkaline Wash Facial
An alkaline treatment that removes fine vellus hair and exfoliates the skin in one appointment
The Alkaline Wash Facial uses Hair Bare Professional, a solution made from a concentrated alkaline powder, to remove fine vellus hair, often called peach fuzz, and exfoliate the skin in the same appointment. The solution temporarily raises the skin's pH for around three minutes, softening and dissolving vellus hair and dead skin cells so they can be removed. It is designed for soft, downy hair on the face, including pale hair that laser hair removal is not usually suited to, and it can also be booked for the underarms. Hair grows back, so results are temporary. A free patch test is required 48 hours before treatment, when your therapist checks suitability, and results vary from person to person.

What to Expect
Preparation
Book your free patch test 48 hours before your treatment. At your appointment, your therapist checks the treatment is suitable for your skin. Let us know about any skin sensitivity, broken skin, recent peels or exfoliating treatments, or prescription skincare you use.
Your Treatment
Your therapist applies the alkaline solution to the area being treated. It stays on the skin for around three minutes, softening vellus hair and dead skin cells, before it is removed. Appointments range from 25 minutes for a small area to an hour for the full face, or the full face and neck.
Aftercare
Skin may feel smoother straight away, as vellus hair and dead skin cells have been removed. As with any exfoliating treatment, protect the area with a broad spectrum SPF and follow the aftercare advice your therapist gives you. Hair grows back over time, so repeat treatments are needed to maintain the result.
