The Anti-Bacterial Facial is one of our most popular facials, made for skin that feels congested, oily or prone to breakouts. Your therapist cleanses your skin, softens it with steam and carefully clears blackheads and blocked pores, then uses high frequency, an enzyme peel, vitamin C and sunscreen. It is designed to remove dead skin cells, clear blackheads and blocked pores, balance oily skin and help open pores look smaller. It is most often booked with a chemical peel for a deeper exfoliation, and every facial starts with a consultation. Results vary from person to person.

What to Expect

Before

Preparation

Please tell us about any medicines and skincare you use, including retinoids, exfoliating acids and acne tablets, as you may need to pause some of them before a chemical peel. If you have taken isotretinoin (Roaccutane) in the last six months, we will not use a chemical peel. Avoid waxing, threading or other exfoliating treatments on your face for a few days beforehand, and arrive without make-up if you can.

During

Your Treatment

Your therapist cleanses your skin and uses gentle steam to soften it, then carefully clears blackheads and blocked pores by hand. High frequency is used over the skin, followed by an enzyme peel, vitamin C and sunscreen. If you choose the chemical peel, it is applied after the extractions. Allow about an hour, or 80 minutes with dermaplaning or LED.

After

Aftercare

Your skin may look a little pink for a few hours after extractions. For 24 hours, avoid make-up, heat, saunas, swimming and exfoliating products, and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day. After a chemical peel, light flaking for a few days is normal, so please do not pick it.

A chemical peel adds a deeper exfoliation, and it is the way this facial is most often booked, at £90. Your therapist will check that your skin suits a peel at your consultation. You can also add dermaplaning (£90) or LED light therapy (£100) instead.

Extractions can feel a little uncomfortable, but your therapist works gently and you can ask for a pause at any time. High frequency feels like a light tingle.

Every four to six weeks is common for keeping pores clear, and your therapist will suggest what suits your skin at your consultation.

Often, yes. Extractions are only done where it is safe, and we never squeeze inflamed or infected spots. If your acne is severe, painful or leaving scars, please see your GP, as prescription treatment may be needed alongside your facials.
