Lymphatic Drainage Massage in Chichester

Lymphatic drainage at our Chichester clinic

Manual lymphatic drainage is a gentle massage that follows the pathways of your lymphatic system, the network of channels that drains excess fluid from your tissues. At our Chichester clinic it is offered for the face, the body or both, using very light, slow movements designed to ease the heavy, puffy feeling of fluid retention. Any change is usually temporary, and results vary from person to person.

It is often booked before or after a flight, around the menopause, ahead of a holiday or special event, and as part of aftercare following surgery. Sessions run from 30 minutes at £45 to 80 minutes at £100, and Full Body & Face is £120. If you would like regular sessions, courses start at £400 for 6.

Sharon, our specialist in post-operative care and lymphatic drainage, has over 20 years in post-operative care and looks after clients recovering from surgery once their surgeon has agreed. Your first visit starts with a consultation, and if you have lymphoedema or lipoedema, please speak to your GP or specialist team before booking.

The clinic is on Market Road in the centre of Chichester, near the Cathedral and Festival Theatre, with parking nearby. We welcome clients from Fishbourne, Bosham, Lavant, Selsey and the Witterings.

A normal massage works on the muscles with firmer pressure. Lymphatic drainage uses very light, slow movements over the skin, following the direction of lymph flow. It should never be painful, and you may feel relaxed or a little tired afterwards.
Our flagship clinic is at 13 Market Road, Chichester PO19 1JW, near the Cathedral and Festival Theatre, with parking nearby. We are open Monday to Friday 10am to 8pm and Saturday 10am to 5pm.
A normal massage works on the muscles with firmer pressure. Lymphatic drainage uses very light, slow movements over the skin, following the direction of lymph flow, and it should never involve deep pressure.
It depends on why you are booking. Some people book a single session before an event or after a flight, and others book a course or come regularly. After surgery with Mr Coombes, he recommends seeing Sharon from seven days after surgery, then weekly until you are happy with how the swelling has settled. After other surgery, we follow your surgeon's advice. Your therapist will suggest a plan at your consultation.
Yes, once your surgeon has agreed. Sharon, who has over 20 years' experience in post-operative care, supports clients after body, breast and facial surgery, working around your incisions and never over them. You can read more on our Post-Operative Care page.
It is designed to ease the heavy, puffy feeling of fluid retention, and you may feel lighter afterwards, but any change is usually temporary. Fluid retention can also be a sign of a heart, kidney or liver condition, so please see your GP if your swelling has not settled after a few days or is getting worse. Ask for an urgent GP appointment or call NHS 111 if it is only on one side and you do not know why, and call 999 if you are short of breath or have chest pain.
