Upper Blepharoplasty with Mr Darryl Coombes
Over time, the skin of the upper eyelids can stretch and fold, making the eyes look heavy or tired and sometimes resting on the lashes. Upper blepharoplasty removes a measured amount of this excess skin, with the scar placed in the natural crease of the eyelid.
Mr Coombes carries out upper blepharoplasty at Eastergate Medical Aesthetics, usually under local anaesthetic. It can also be combined with the Apex Facelift®.
Mr Coombes operates at Eastergate Medical Aesthetics, inside Eastergate Medical Centre on Barnham Road, a short drive from Chichester, Bognor Regis and Arundel, with free on-site parking. If you live near Petersfield or elsewhere in Hampshire, your consultation and surgery are at Eastergate, and your aftercare can be at our Petersfield clinic.
Who it may suit
It may suit you if excess skin on your upper eyelids makes your eyes look hooded or tired. A low or heavy brow can also cause hooding, so Mr Coombes will check whether a brow lift would suit you better, and explain your options honestly.

Recovery after your upper blepharoplasty
Swelling and bruising around the eyes are expected at first and settle over the following weeks. Mr Coombes will explain how to care for your eyelids, when your stitches will be removed and when you can return to work.
Mr Coombes recommends that his patients see Sharon, our post-operative care specialist, from seven days after surgery for gentle lymphatic drainage, then weekly until you are happy with how the swelling has settled. Sessions can be at our Chichester, Petersfield or Bognor clinics.
As with any surgery, there are risks, including bleeding, infection, bruising, swelling, changes in sensation, scarring, asymmetry and, occasionally, the need for further treatment. Mr Coombes will explain the risks that apply to you at your consultation.
