The procedure

Apex Facelift® with Mr Darryl Coombes

Mr Darryl Coombes developed the Apex Facelift® to treat sagging in the lower face and neck under local anaesthetic, without a general anaesthetic. It is designed to lift and recontour the jawline and neck for a natural, rested look, with the incisions placed within the hairline and the natural contours of the face.

Because it is carried out under local anaesthetic, you go home the same day, and Mr Coombes finds that most people feel comfortable returning to work within a week. It can be combined with upper eyelid surgery in the same visit.

Mr Coombes operates at Eastergate Medical Aesthetics, inside Eastergate Medical Centre on Barnham Road, a short drive from Chichester, Bognor Regis and Arundel, with free on-site parking. If you live near Petersfield or elsewhere in Hampshire, your consultation and surgery are at Eastergate, and your aftercare can be at our Petersfield clinic.

Who it may suit

It may suit you if you have loose skin along the jawline and in the neck, and would prefer to avoid a general anaesthetic. Mr Coombes will examine you and tell you honestly whether the Apex Facelift®, another procedure or a non-surgical treatment would suit you better.

Recovery and aftercare

Recovery after your Apex Facelift®

Some swelling and bruising is expected in the first days. Mr Coombes will explain how to look after yourself at home, and you will have follow-up appointments as part of your care.

Mr Coombes recommends that his patients see Sharon, our post-operative care specialist, from seven days after surgery for gentle lymphatic drainage, then weekly until you are happy with how the swelling has settled. Sessions can be at our Chichester, Petersfield or Bognor clinics.

From six weeks after surgery, Mr Coombes recommends RF microneedling, Sofwave or SkinPen to help preserve your results.

As with any surgery, there are risks, including bleeding, infection, bruising, swelling, changes in sensation, scarring, asymmetry and, occasionally, the need for further treatment. Mr Coombes will explain the risks that apply to you at your consultation.
